What does Lingopilot translate?

Products (titles, descriptions, SEO, options and option values), collections, pages, blogs and articles, menus and storefront filters, metafields, metaobjects, theme texts, checkout and system texts, notification emails, store details, image alt text and, if you choose, your policies. You decide which of these are included in Settings.

Which languages are supported?

Any language you can add to Shopify under Settings › Languages. Lingopilot translates from your store’s default language into the languages you select in the app; languages you don’t select are never touched, so you can manage them another way.

How does Autopilot work?

When you create or edit a product or collection, Shopify notifies Lingopilot and the changed fields are translated about a minute later. Everything else, such as theme changes, pages and menus, is picked up by a nightly check. Only new or changed text is translated, so unchanged content never uses your allowance.

Will Lingopilot overwrite translations I edited myself?

No. Any translation that wasn’t written by Lingopilot, whether you edited it, another app wrote it or it is built into Shopify or your theme, is marked as protected and never overwritten. You can hand a field back to the AI at any time from the editor.

Where are the translations stored? Will it slow down my store?

Translations are saved directly in Shopify, the same place Shopify’s own Translate & Adapt app uses. Lingopilot adds no scripts or app embeds to your storefront, so your store’s speed is unaffected, and your translations stay in your store if you ever uninstall.

Do I need Shopify Markets or a language switcher?

Customers see a translated store when they visit a published language, usually through your theme’s language selector or a market’s domain or subfolder. Lingopilot fills in the translations; how languages are offered to customers is set up in Shopify.

Which AI does Lingopilot use?

Lingopilot uses Google’s Gemini models through the paid API, so your content is not used to train them. Every translation is checked so that HTML, links, placeholders like {{ order.name }} and your glossary terms come through intact.

How are characters counted?

Your plan includes a number of AI characters per month, counted on the original text that is sent for translation, once per language. Manual editing, search and replace, and re-checking content are free. The counter resets at the start of each month.

What happens when I reach my monthly limit?

AI translation pauses until the next month, or you can upgrade to continue right away. Existing translations stay live and manual editing keeps working.

Can I translate URL handles?

Yes. Turn on “Translate URL handles” in Settings to give products, collections and pages translated, search-friendly URLs.

How does billing work? Can I change plans?

Billing is handled by Shopify and appears on your Shopify invoice. Paid plans start with a 7-day free trial, and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time from the app’s dashboard.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

Your translations stay in your Shopify store. Lingopilot’s own copy of your settings, glossary and translation history is deleted within 48 hours of uninstalling. See the privacy policy for details.
